The tunnel of the Time (Automatic translation, under review)
Colony of the Sacrament is a small city located in the estuary of the River of the Silver, in the far bank to Buenos Aires.
Manuel Lobo was founded by the Portuguese on 1680. During many years it was place of conflict between Portuguese and Spaniards and in fact it was annexed by both kingdom in systematic form.
It is the only city founded by the Portuguese crown on the River of the Silver, this had to the geopolitical interest that represented Portugal to offer a counterbalance to him to Buenos Aires.
The architecture is Colonial and is peculiar to along with see as the typical characteristics of the Portuguese architecture coexist, those of the Spanish architecture.
The state of conservation of the city is impeccable, very clean and is ordered. In the streets there is no visual pollution with publicities, neither graffitti in the walls, nor nothing that the original harmony disturbs.
In 1995 Cultural Patrimony of the Humanity was declared by UNESCO and a special air is lived walking by its streets in which it seems to be a trip by the tunnel of the time.

The trip: This crossing of the River of the Silver I made it with my sailboat, which grants a special pleasure to him to the trip, since beyond the place to visit, the trip in himself represents an enjoyment.
In the River of the Silver it is possible to be found days of much calm and others with an enraged river, the outward journey found me with a river moved enough, waves of about 50 to 70 centimeters and a moderate wind that helped to make the crossing in the excellent time of 5 hours.
In the route they are an endless number of sunk boats, most of floated and hidden them under the water. In the route that I did, only the sunk boat Lambaré, (near the Island of Farallón) lets see its masts on the water, along with a pair of buoys (they can see it in the photo).
Colony has 2 ports, one commercial and another sport one. First it is used by companies as Buquebus for the transfer of passengers. I went to the sport port, that counts as well on two wharves, one of wood and another one of material.
I moored in the wood wharf, to which pleasant and much more comfortable encounter.

Where to go: A characteristic of the city is that much people are transported in mopeds, or bicycles, or golf trolleys.
Without doubts I recommend to rent a motito to you, since you are going to be able to see many more things, I found a place called Muña motos where the motos turned out to be good.

Door of Field
It is the reconstruction of one from the accesses to the city at the time of the Portuguese. The vestibule is seen, the bridge that crosses a pit the wall and a tube.

Light
He is one of both lights of Colony and is in the heat of colonial sector, the other is in the island of Farallón.
It is constructed next to the ruins of the convent of San Francisco, of who still the ruins can be appreciated.
I did not raise, but the city can be done it and be seen thence.

Beaches
The beaches of Colony are very pleasant, seems incredible that they correspond to the other margin of the River of the Silver since in Buenos Aires the landscape is absolutely different and very many less placentero.
It would be possible to be said that the Argentine side is “urban more”, with cement by all sides, when in Colony the beaches have sand and people are going to take sun or to occur a bath in the river.

The bullring
Yes, although it seems strange Colony has the ruins of a bullring that was inaugurated in 1910 and single it worked 8 times officially.
Pain is one that cannot be entered and that does not operate the place tourist.

Sport port
Although you do not go in boat is a very pleasant place to give a return, specially in the wood wharf, where there are banks to seat to rest and to appreciate the landscape.

Stream Brook
One is a place near Colony, where also it is possible to be sailing, although is wharf no to be moored.
The boats that approach can be left only 30 minutes in the constructed wharf and soon they must be on the margin of the river.
In the place only there are minims facilities and a position of the Uruguayan prefecture to make the proceedings from enter the country.

I did not visit them by lack of time, but there are several museums that even recommended some friends to me, these are: the Spanish Museum, the Portuguese Museum and the Municipal Museum

Traveler's nightmare: During the week ends the city overflows of people and that sometimes is annoying. During my trip, a contingent of American adolescents who stay themselves in Buenos Aires won each corner of the city.
The sport port is small for the amount of boats that go during the week ends, being overwhelmed both wharves, therefore the option is to cast anchor “to the twisting”, that is to say, with anchor far from the wharf or the coast.
In this case one is due to contract the services of the “wineskin maker”, who approaches with a boat our boat to take to earth.
The disadvantage that this presents/displays is that the wineskin maker does not work at night, not being able to return to the boat if this happens.
It is a peculiar behavior for not being interested in offering service in spite of having a volume of people interested in buying it, typically Latin would say. I indicate this because the port of Colony is incomplete and nevertheless the work is not finished although the capacity of he himself and which could be increased is interested in using the new facilities. The problem is that the administration depends on a being of the State (Naval Hydrography) and as it is known, to the States never (or almost never) interests to them to improve the more efficient productivity and being in the activity that make.

Things you should not miss: Podés not to let eat a chivito, in Colony prepares it of a spectacular way. Eye that chivito is not the animal (I inform) but a cut of bovine meat, the one that in Argentina we called “back”, in Uruguay calls “chivito”.
Andá to a beach, you are going it to enjoy.
You do not let walk by the historical center, is worth the trouble.
